Jerry Lee Manning, 75, of Lynn passed away peacefully Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013 at his residence.He was born June 18, 1938 in Lynn to the late Russell James and Myrtle W. (Dohme) Manning. A 1956 graduate of Spartanburg High School, Manning was a lifelong resident of Randolph County. He served with the United States Army Reserve for six years before receiving an honorable discharge in 1967. He was employed for 50 years as a lineman for GTE, retiring in 2006. Jerry also worked his entire life as a self-employed farmer. He was a member of Indiana Farm Bureau and belonged to the IBEW throughout his 50-year career as a lineman.Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Bertha Anne (Kerney) Manning; two sons, Brett (wife Paula) Manning and David (wife LouAnne) Manning, all of Lynn; one brother, Mike (wife Nancy) Manning of Richmond; three grandsons, Adam McQueen, Jansen Manning and Dane Manning; two granddaughters, Valerie Manning and Taylor (husband Gabe) Addington; and four great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Myrtle Manning; and several aunts and uncles.Funeral services are 1 p.m. Sunday at Oswalt Family Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 1212 E. 100 S., Winchester, with Pastor Tom Govin officiating. Burial will follow at Spartanburg Cemetery.There will be a private viewing for family and close friends one hour prior to services Sunday at the funeral home.
