Carter, age 81, of Nixa, Mo. passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2014.Jerry was born on April 29, 1932 in Springfield, Mo. the son of the late Howard H. Carter Sr. and Mary (Slack) Carter. Jerry graduated from Nixa High School with the class of 1950, and was a John Brown University graduate. He served in the U.S. Army from 1955-1959. Jerry was a long time auto mechanic with M&W Chevrolet in Nixa before retiring as owner and operator of Jerry's Auto. After retirement, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.Survivors include his brother Joe D. Carter and his wife Ruth of Nixa; sister Linda (Carter) Wirz and her husband Jim of Verona; numerous nieces and nephews; and Shirley Carter.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Charles E. and Howard H. Jr.Memorial services will be held at 3 pm, Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at Greenlawn Funeral Home North, with Pastor Joe Fahl officiating.Visitation will be Monday evening at the funeral home. Burial to be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
