Jerry Franklin Johnson, 46, died Oct. 7, 2009, at his home. He was born Dec. 4, 1962, to Franklin "Hank" Johnson who died May 4, 1987, and Margaret (James) Isbell, who survived him. He is also survived by his son, Matthew (Casey) Smith and three grandchildren, Ryan, Elizabeth and Ashley, all of Southside; two sisters, Pam Berry, Lima, Ohio, and Teresa (Herb) Herbst, Gadsden; two nephews, Brandon (Katie) Berry, Jacksonville, Fla., and Jeremy (Angela) Berry, St. Augustine, Fla.; nieces, Lauren Pounds and Jennifer Smith, Gadsden; two great-nieces, Azrael Berry, St. Augustine, Fla., and Abby Berry, Jacksonville, Fla.; one great-nephew, Andrew Pounds; good friend, Sharon McCoy. J.J. retired from the city of Gadsden with 24 years of service. J.J. was an avid fisherman. He loved the outdoors, buying and selling treasures and tinkering with cars. His best friend and dearest companion was his beloved dog, Ricco. Jerry has gone home to be with his Savior and was no doubt met at the gate by his Dad, whom he has missed very much for 22 years and they are finally together again. What a glorious reunion that was! Funeral service was held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Village Chapel. The Rev. David Carroll officiated. Burial was in Forrest Cemetery. Village Chapel Funeral Home and Cremation Services was in charge of arrangements.
