Hartselle<!--Hartselle-->Jerry B. Goodwin, age 65, died at his residence in Hartselle on Saturday, July 14, 2007, following a long battle with cancer. He was born June 28, 1942, in Hillsboro, the only son of Aaron Goodwin and Jewell Hale Goodwin. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Goodwin is survived by two sons, Jerry Goodwin II, and Mark and his wife Renee, and their children, Blake and Brooke Goodwin. He is also survived by a stepson, Matthew R. Powell and his wife, Jennifer, and their two children. Other survivors are four sisters, Ruth Pitt, Doris Jett, Shirley Moran, and Carolyn Fleming; and an aunt, Loretta Goodwin Bell.Mr. Goodwin is a retired truck driver, a Mason and a Shriner. He is also a Vietname veteran, having served in the U.S. Air Force. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 16, 2007, at 2 p.m. in the chapel at Ridout&#8217;s Brown-Service Funeral Home, Decatur, with the Rev. Doug Wells officiating.Visitation will be held in the chapel from noon until 2. Burial will be at East Lawrence Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be nephews Danny Pitt, Andy Pitt, Timothy Pitt, Tony Pitt, Kendall Jett and Errek Jett. Honorary pallbearers will be fellow Mason and Shriners.Donations may be made to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial though the local VA office.
