JORDAN, JENNIFER REBECCA (GRAWEMEYER), passed away November 5, 2013, at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City after a valiant two-year battle with breast cancer. Jennifer, known as "J" in New York, was born on March 5, 1975, in Louisville to Ron and Jean Grawemeyer. She graduated from St. Francis High School in 1993 and from Tisch School of the Arts, New York University, in 1997 where she met the love of her life, Don Jordan. J and Don married on a pavilion overlooking the beach at Seaside, FL, in October of 2003, a romantic setting for the beginning of a joyful marriage. J was devoted to her job as Director of Human Resources for Prospect Park Alliance in Brooklyn where she was a valued employee. Previously she had been employed by John Wiley & Sons, Hoboken, NJ and DK Publishing in New York City. J loved living in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, where she co-founded SPRIG (Sunset Park Revitalization and Improvement Group) and was instrumental in starting an early morning Sunset Park running group, the Mother Runners. She ran with the group in the Philadelphia Half-Marathon in November, 2012. J was also involved in the world of theater. She authored two plays that were produced off-off-Broadway and performed as an actor in many more. A vibrant and vital member of the New York Theatre Experience family, she was an ardent and enthusiastic supporter of indie theater. As a charter member of the nytheatre.com's FringeNYC Reviewing Squad, she reviewed shows in that and many other festivals for over ten years. In addition, J had been a blogger for AOL, writing blogs about New Orleans as well as for Fit Tips, Fit Pregnancy and Parent Dish. J loved Louisville and New York City, but, by her own admission, her heart was hopelessly lost in New Orleans. She visited as often as possible and dreamed of living there some day. J's charisma, multiple talents and memorable smile led to many warm friendships and a strong sense of community in her neighborhood. She has been described by friends as exuberant, brilliant, humorous, brave, spunky, goofy, wise and strong, with an abiding sense of wonder. It has also been said that she lived the life she wanted to live and made the most of the short time she had on this earth. In her thirty-eight years she touched the lives of many people in all walks of life. Her dedication to their well-being extended to friends and especially family, all of whom brought her the greatest pleasure. Her husband and children were a source of great pride and her parents remained a significant part of her life. She loved dearly and was dearly loved. Jennifer was predeceased by her grandmothers, Helen Grawemeyer and Barbara Grawemeyer; and grandfathers, Leo Grawemeyer and Dudley Conner, Sr. J is survived by her husband, Don Jordan, who never wavered in his love and care of her, in addition to her beloved children, a son, Mercer Henry Grawemeyer Jordan, six, and a daughter, Everly Ashbrook Grawemeyer Jordan, five, all of Brooklyn. She is also survived by her devoted parents, Ron and Jean Grawemeyer, of Louisville; and grandmother, Ernestine Conner of Russell Springs, KY. In addition, she has left behind her in-laws, Sue Jordan, of Carson, CA, and Don, Sr. and Shirley Jordan of Delphi, IN; special cousins, Jeremy Conner of Centre Moriches, Long Island, NY, Tessa Lester of Shepherdsville, KY and Barry Grawemeyer of Greensburg, KY; aunts, Erika Janes and Sharon Bellucci of Louisville and Sondra Lee of St. Petersburg, FL. A memorial service is planned for Friday, December 27, 2013, at 11 a.m. at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 1206 Maple Lane, Anchorage, KY, 40223. Expressions of sympathy may be directed to St. Francis School, 233 W. Broadway, Louisville, KY, 40202.
