July 19, 2006 Jennifer Lee Smith, 30, of 19 Homer Avenue, Cortland, died Wednesday at the home of her parents, Lewis Point Road, Canastota, surrounded by her family. She was born on June 20, 1976, in Syracuse, the daughter of Brian and Heather Weir Smith. Jennifer grew up in Canastota and was a 1994 graduate of Canastota High School. She later graduated from SUNY Morrisville in 1996, and from Utica College of Syracuse University in 1999. She moved to the Cortland/Ithaca area in October 2000. She worked for Cornell University as a medical technologist in the Bacteriology for Diagnostics Laboratory. Jennifer enjoyed spending time with family and friends, reading, shopping, traveling, music, playing softball, and the family pets. Jennifer was predeceased by her paternal grandfather, Gerald R."Jigger" Smith; and her maternal grandmother, Margaret A. Weir. Survivors: her parents, Brian and Heather Smith of Canastota; her paternal grandmother, Ida M. "Kay" Smith of Whitelaw; a brother, Gregory Eric Smith and his fiancee, Angela Olson, of Chittenango; a niece, Elizabeth Madison Smith; her aunts and uncles, Randy Smith of North Bay, Michelle and Fred Wilber of Hannibal, Lori and Charlie Hood of Whitelaw, Christine and John Barley of Ithaca, and Jason "Jake" and Shari Smith of Whitelaw; her cousins, Marilyn, Michael and Miranda Smith, Rebecca and Jessica Wilber, Sarah and Lukas Myers and Logan Hood, Shauntle, Shane, Samuel and Simon Barley, and Jenna, Jade and Tanner Smith; as well as many second cousins. Services: Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. The Rev. Robert A. Bromfield, pastor of the Whitelaw Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Canastota. Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Saturday (tomorrow) from 2 to 6 p.m. at the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James Street, Canastota.
