Jeannette M. Mathieu of Fitchburg, active at St. Joseph's; 91 FITCHBURG Jeannette M. (LeClair) Mathieu, 91, of Fitchburg, died Thursday, December 25th, at the Eagle Pond Nursing Home, South Dennis. She was the wife of George A. Mathieu who died in August 1982. Mrs. Mathieu was born in Fitchburg, May 11, 1917, a daughter of Salus and Eva (Beauvais) LeClair, and resided much of her life in Fitchburg. She attended the Fitchburg School System. During the 1960's, Mrs. Mathieu worked for several years as a salesperson at the former Rogers in the Square Clothing, and also at the former Barney Rosen's Clothing Store, both in Fitchburg. She was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Fitchburg and participated in many prayer groups. Mrs. Mathieu shared her deep faith during her visits to the area nursing homes. She was an active member of the Carmelites. She enjoyed arts & crafts and many years ago enjoyed figure skating with her husband. She is survived by her daughter, Constance A. Densmore of Hyannis; two sisters, Doris Vallee and Theresa Fortier, both of Fitchburg. She also leaves 7 grandchildren, Brian Lamoureux, Kevin Lamoureux, Cheryl Jacobson, Scott Lamoureux, James Lamoureux, Tina Marie Mathieu and Shawn Mathieu; 7 great-grandchildren, Samantha Lamoureux, Rachael Lamoureux, Nicholas Lamoureux, Charlie Lamoureux, Sidney Lamoureux, Colman Lamoureux, and William Lamoureux. She was the mother of the late George A. Mathieu III of Ohio who died in 1981. She was the sister of the late Pauline Auger and Victor LeClair, both of Fitchburg, and Leo LeClair of Michigan. MATHIEU A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m., Tuesday, December 30th at St. Joseph's Church, 49 Woodland St., Fitchburg. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. A visitation period will be 9:30 10:30 a.m., Tuesday at the Louis M. Isabelle Funeral Home, 316 Clarendon St., Fitchburg. Please see www.isabellefuneral.com for additional information.
