Jeanne Lorainne Ferguson, 89, Port Charlotte, died Sept. 18, 2004. She was born Oct. 6, 1914, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She worked as a public health nurse and school nurse. She was a founding member of the National Organization of Women and the Retired Teachers Association. She worked with a pilot program for the Berkeley Project and was involved in a reading program for preschool children. Survivors include a daughter, Nanci Hunter of Port Charlotte; and grandsons Christian Fossler of Port Charlotte and James Nobriga of San Jose, Calif. No services are scheduled. Larry Taylor Funeral and Cremation Services, Punta Gorda Chapel, is in charge. Memorial donations may be made to Special Olympics of Charlotte County, 172 Baldwin Court, Port Charlotte, FL 33952.
