Jean W. Nelson-Everitt BENSALEM, PA- Jean W. Nelson-Everitt, 86, of Bensalem, PA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 7, 2010, at home at Wood River Village. Born and raised in Duluth, MN, Jean raised her family in Morrisville, PA. She graduated from Temple University in 1971 with a B.A. in psychology, earned a M.A. in counseling and guidance from Rider University in 1979, and an M.S. in industrial relations from Rutgers University in 1981. Jean began her career at Trenton Family Services and joined the State of New Jersey in the early 1970's as an employment counselor and trainer, earning numerous advancements until retiring as supervisor of training in 1991. Jean was a CPM, a NJ Registered Professional Counselor, and a National Certified Counselor, president of the NJ Employment Counselors Association, and was listed in "Who's Who in the East" since 1978. She served for 10 years on the Board of Child and Youth Welfare Bureau of Bucks County. After retirement, Jean enjoyed dancing, playing bridge, and traveling around the world, and remained a passionate supporter of child welfare throughout her lifetime. She will be and is terribly missed by her family. Widow of the late Lowell D. Nelson, and daughter of the late Albert and Florence Williams, Jean is survived by her seven children, Nancy Jewusiak of Hamilton Square, James (and Paula) Nelson of Tortola, B.V.I., Steven Nelson of Ewing, Michele (and Bob) Wilkinson of Glenmore, Cynthia (and her life partner, Ed Thorn) of Morrisville, PA, Susan (and David) Braun of Washington's Crossing, and Thomas (and Terri) Nelson of West Trenton. She was the devoted grandmother to Amy, LeeAnn, Shannon, Daniel, Kara, David, Leah, Christopher, Thomas Jr. and Philip, and six great-grandchildren. The family extends a special thanks to all of the wonderful people and nursing staff at Wood River Village for taking such good care of Jean. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. April 24, 2010 at Wood River Village, 3200 Bensalem Blvd., Bensalem, PA 19020. Arrangements are by Auer Cremation Services of Pennsylvania Inc.
