TODD _ Jean Mary (nee Girling), born May 6, 1924, in Vancouver, BC, passed away peacefully at the Brookhaven Care Centre, Kelowna, on January 1, 2004, at the age of 79 years. She was predeceased by her parents, Beatrice (Hadfiled) Girling in 1947 and Stanley Girling in 1950. Jean leaves wonderful, loving memories to her family: her husband, Jeffrey of 56 years; daughters Maureen (Richard) and Glenna (Rod); sons, Raymond (Barb), Barry (Belinda), Kevin (Eve), and Graham (Kelly); seventeen grandchildren and one great-grandchild; foster daughter Pat (Norm) Pottinger and family. She also leaves her dear sister Doreen (Arthur) Poole of North Vancouver and friends. Many thanks to Vi Linden for taking such good care of Mom and Dad, and her dedication in driving Dad to visit Mom often. Jean grew up in Point Grey and attended Lord Bing High School. She continued at UBC and Normal School to become a teacher at Jericho in Vancouver and at Benvoulin Elementary in Kelowna. She married Jeff Todd on November 1, 1947. Jean also taught kindergarten in Peachland and was the town librarian for 22 years. She played organ for Peachland United Church for over 50 years. Jean and Jeff established their Peachland Campground "Todd's Tent Town" in 1956. Jean was very involved in her community of Peachland, and was loved and respected by those of all ages. In the last years, she and the family truly appreciated and enjoyed the support and affection of the caring staff at Brookhaven Care Centre. Mom will be missed for her sense of humour, deep concern for others, and the love of life, music and people. We believe that Mom was one of God's Angels on earth. She had a strong faith and trust in the Lord. Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 am, Wednesday, January 7, 2004, at the Peachland Community Centre, 4450 - 6th Street, Peachland, BC. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kelowna General Hospital Foundation, Brookhaven Centre Fund, 2268 Pandosy Street, Kelowna, BC, V1Y 1T2 or Peachland United Church, 4th Street, Peachland, BC, V0H 1X0.
