Rev. Tresco E. Shannon and Rev. Brian Gilmer officiating. Interment in St. Paul Cemetery.Mrs. Smith born on January 13, 1928 in Easley, South Carolina, to the late Enoch Sherriff and Laura Parrish Pepper. She was married to the late Harry Smith for 48 years and had made New Ellenton her home for the past 60 years. A former member of the Springs Methodist Church, Mrs. Smith was an active Charter Member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church where she had served as the Chairwoman of the Worship Committee, a Sunday School Teacher, the Church Music Program and Church Pianist and in 2010 received the Church Woman of the Year recognition. She was a 1949 graduate of Winthrop College, a Licensed Bachelor of Social Work, a Prison Instructor at the Aiken County Detention Center and a Substitute Teacher with the New Ellenton Schools. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by a great grandson, Silas Young, and her brother, Horace C. Pepper.Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Hal & Lori Smith, Englewood, Fl., Dr. Gratin and Adelaide Smith, Greenwood, SC, and Don and Joyce Smith, Gastonia, NC; thirteen grandchildren, Parrish Smith, Grace Eaton, Caleb Smith, Sallie Chapman, Bailey Smith, Courtney Smith, Carley Smith, Todd Young, Laura Mabrey, Julie Smith, Seth Smith, Pepper Jean Smith, and Sage Smith; five great grandchildren, Savannah Young, Jasmine Young, Matthew Young, Atticus Eaton, and Alex Chapman; a sister, Polly P.
