Avis de décès de Jean-Norman Carter


WINSLOW -- Jean Norman Carter, 80, of Winslow died March 14, 2011, after a long battle with cancer. Jean was a born Nov. 13, 1930, in Waterville to Fred and Mabel (Montminey) Carter. Jean served in the Navy and the National Guard. He then worked for more than 35 years for Scott Paper Co. and prior to that he worked for Hollingsworth & Whitney. He was a member of the Waterville Elks Club for 25 years and he was also a member of the Trout Unlimited Club. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling and camping. He also loved to play Texas Holdem. Jean spent a lot of time at hunting camp cutting his own trail at the camp and cutting back many trees, partly due to his love of chain saws. He was a Winslow Firefighter for many years. Jean also grew apple trees from seeds even though everyone told him it couldn't be done. Jean was predeceased by his parents; his wife of 55 years, Muriel (Caron), who he married on Jan. 27, 1951; and five siblings: Richard, Delores, Robert, Donald and Fern "Cannonball."Surviving are three sons: Douglas Carter and his partner, Jesus, of Colorado, Kim Carter and his wife, Sandra, of Winslow, and Randy Carter and his wife, Cynthia, of Fairfield; five brothers and sisters: Jeanine, Cecile, Francis, Pat and Roland; six grandchildren: Jason and Jeannie of Washington state, Hampy Carter of Winslow, Rebecca and her husband, Bradd Giguere, of Benton, William Carter of Benton, and Angel and Chris Richardson of Fairfield; five great-grandchildren: Brielle, Bailey, Luke, Jake and Bradd Jr.; a special friend, Erma Blakney; and many, many nieces, nephews and friends. Visiting hours will be held Thursday, March 17, 2011, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Veilleux Funeral Home, 8 Elm St., Waterville. Members of the Waterville Elks Lodge will perform chapel services at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday, March 18, at 11 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church, Monument Street, Winslow. Interment will occur in St. Francis Cemetery, Grove Street, Waterville, at a later date. The family would like to thank Oak Grove Nursing Care Center for the care they gave to Jean during his stay. Also, they would like to thank Courtney Cook, a special friend, for all the care she gave to their father.
