Jean N. Peterson, 80, died April 16, 2008, at Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach. She was born in Spindale, N.C., and lived in Vero Beach since 1948, coming from Fort Pierce. Before retirement, she was a bookkeeper for the Barker/Indian River Electric Co. She was of the Methodist faith and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. Survivors include her daughters, Jan Barker Maxwell of Fort Myers, Pam Barker of Satellite Beach and Rebel Barker Horton of Fort Pierce; stepsons, Carl Peterson and Richard Peterson, both of Fort Pierce; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Jack M. Barker and Albert C. Peterson. Memorial contributions may be made to the VNA/Hospice Foundation, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960.
