HENDERSON, Jean Marie Passed away peacefully on March 19, 2015 in Carinsmore Place at the age of 84. Jean was predeceased by her loving, devoted husband and best friend of 52 years, Colin Edward Henderson, her sister Isabell and daughter Janet (Richardson). She is survived by her children Tina (Quinn), Kathleen and Stephen; her grandchildren Tania, Serena, Ryan, Darcy, Tessa, Johnathan and Austin; and 9 great-grandchildren. Born in Winnipeg MB on May 25th, 1930 Jean was the beloved daughter of Andrew and Maya Anderson who had journeyed to Canada from Denmark. As a young woman Jean studied nursing in Victoria BC until she met and married Colin. Jean was a loving, devoted wife and mother and will be remembered for her hard work and commitment to Fordell Farm, the family's farm in Shawnigan Lake from 1965-2008. In between raising cows, chicken, horses and, most famously, sheep, Jean was a fantastic self taught cook who loved to delight dinner guests and family with delicious meals and her signature Orange Chiffon cake that won numerous Blue Ribbons at the annual Cobble Hill Fair. Jean was involved in many community activities including 4-H, the Farmers' Institute, Elections Canada, Shawnigan Lake Baby Clinic and Census Canada. She was an avid reader, loved crosswords, and enjoyed travelling, cooking, bird watching and gardening. Jean contributed greatly to the lives of her family and friends with her warmth, generosity and wonderful sense of humour. She will be sadly missed, but always remembered. The family would like to thank the employees of Carinsmore Place for their care and support over the past 11 months. There will be no formal funeral service; a private gathering will be held to celebrate and remember Jean as her ashes are spread near those of her cherished husband.
