Jean M. Smith Westmoreland Jean M. Smith, age 55, of Deans Highway, passed away peacefully Wednesday evening, October 10, 2012, in the Siegenthaler Center, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 3, 1957, in Utica, New York, a daughter of the late John and Jane (Senior) Carmody, and was a graduate of Westmoreland High School and Mohawk Valley Community College. On September 16, 1978, Jean and Neil H. Smith were united in marriage at the Church of The Annunciation in Clark Mills, and the couple has shared that union over thirty four years together. For the past nineteen years, Jean had worked in the Human Resources Department of the Oneida Indian Nation. In her spare time, she enjoyed spending time with her family and watching New York Yankees and New York Giants games. Surviving are her husband, Neil; two sons, Christopher Smith and Daniel Smith, all of Westmoreland; one brother, John and sister-in-law, Joan Carmody, of Vernon; one sister, Joanne Bartell, of Chittenango; a special aunt, Vivian Shanley, of Westmoreland; two uncles, John Jones and Mark Perault, of Clark Mills. Family and friends are invited to call on Friday (today) from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Malecki Funeral Home, Inc., 23 Front Street, Vernon. Jean's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of The Annunciation, 25 South Street, Clark Mills, New York. Burial will follow in Westmoreland Cemetery, Westmoreland, NY. In memory of Jean, donations may be sent to the Hospice Siegenthaler Center, 4277 Middle Settlement Road, New Hartford, NY 13413.
