Avis de décès de Jean-Denoon Anderson

Mrs. Jean Denoon (Anderson) Sinclair HALIFAX, NS - It is with great sadness that we announce that Mrs. Jean Denoon (Anderson) Sinclair, cherished wife of Kenneth Goodwin Sinclair, passed away on March 16, 2006 at the QE II Halifax Infirmary Hospital at the age of 82. Jean was born on September 24, 1923 in Newcastle, New Brunswick. She was raised in the home of her parents, Walter and Hazel (MacKay) Anderson with her brothers Bill and Ian (all predeceased). She was the beloved mother, mother-in-law and grandmother of, and inspiration to; Colin, his wife Sandy and children Ashley and Andrew residing in London, England; Iain, his wife Helen and children Jessica, Hilary and Laura residing in St. John's, Newfoundland; and Ellen and her children Lindsay and Rory residing in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Jean's extended family of sister's-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends was large and dear to her. Jean lived in Newcastle until she and Ken joined Ellen and her family in Halifax in 1998. Jean led a life full of activity and love for others. Her career spanned office management at the family lumber mill in Newcastle, dress design in Montreal, dressmaking in Florida and New Brunswick, taxi driver in Métis, Quebec and mechanical drafting in Amherst. After marrying Ken on August 16, 1952, she dedicated herself fully to the care, guidance and entertainment of her family. The friendships that she developed since childhood were deeply valued by those who experienced the joy of getting to know her closely. She adored ballroom and square dancing, interests that she shared with her equally talented and attentive husband. Jean was an accomplished artist who took great joy in capturing nature's beauty in her paintings. Her works will continue to provide cherished memories for her family. She shared her father's and brothers' interests in politics and was always ready for a spirited debate about the current state of affairs. Jean's story-telling abilities were legendary and her laughter infectious, providing endless enjoyment and frequently tears of laughter to her family and friends. The perseverance and self-deprecating humour she exhibited in the face of her many health challenges were an inspiration in how to deal with life's troubles and celebrate its triumphs. She has touched so many lives and will forever be remembered. Her family greatly appreciates the special care that Jean received from her doctors, hospital staff and ambulance attendants. Jean's long and generous life will be celebrated at Rockingham United Church in Halifax, Nova Scotia at 2 pm on Thursday, March 23rd, 2006 with Rev. Martin Reid officiating. A reception will follow. Cremation has taken place and a service and internment will occur later in the year at the family burial plot in Newcastle. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The War Amps (www.waramps.ca) or other charity of choice. Condolences to the family may be sent to snowfh@alderwoods.com. [Times & Transcript]
