Jean Catherine Dowswell (née Morris) September 10, 1920 - September 12, 2004 Funeral arrangements by Jenkens Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our cherished mother on September 12, 2004 after a courageous battle with cancer at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Jean was born in Fort William, Ontario on September 10, 1920 to Alexander and Catherine Morris. She was educated in Fort William. Jean worked at Canada Car as a welder during the war, where she met Howard. Howard enlisted in the Navy in 1941 and was stationed in Liverpool, Nova Scotia. Jean and Howard were married in Liverpool, Nova Scotia on June 28, 1944. After returning to Fort William, Jean and Howard settled on Vanguard Avenue where they had a small hobby farm. Jean worked on the farm for many years, tending to animals, gardening and raising five children. Jean had many hobbies including decorating wedding cakes and upholstering furniture. After the passing of Howard, Jean moved into a condo on Arthur Street, where she resided until being hospitalized in May 2004. Jean was a loving, caring, gentle and soft spoken lady who took pride in her family and her home. Jean had a wit and dry sense of humour which brought smiles to those who knew her. Her most treasured moments were family gatherings and visits with her family and friends. During the last few years Jean truly enjoyed her outings to the Casino-she always came out a winner.
