A memorial service for Jean Madelin Campbell Anderson, 73, will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Trenholm Road United Methodist Church, Columbia, with private burial in the church's memorial garden. Officiating for the service will be the Rev. W. Donald Britt and the Rev. Rebecca Shirley. Visitation with family and friends will follow the service in the church dining room. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cancer Institute of Palmetto Baptist Hospital, 1301 Taylor St., Columbia, SC 29201. Mrs. Anderson died early Wednesday morning, Sept. 12, 2001, at home. Born and reared in Walterboro, she was the only child of the late Zola Walker and Franklin William Campbell. Mrs. Anderson was a 1949 sociology graduate of Winthrop College and held a Masters in Religious Education from Emory University. She was a school teacher for almost 30 years, teaching in Atlanta, Columbia, North Augusta, Greenville, Rock Hill, and finally Richland District Two, where her final years were as a parent education administrator. She is a former member of two professional sororities, ADK and PEO. Amid all, she was a devoted minister's wife, parent and grandparent. Surviving are her husband, the Rev. L. Porter Anderson Jr.; one daughter, Elizabeth Anderson Rankin, of Columbia, and her two children, Andrew Richard Rankin and Meredith Anderson Rankin; and one son, L. Porter Anderson III, of Atlanta.
