Janet Ward RussellOf Dunstable BAKER'S ISLAND, SALEM, MA -- Janet Ward Russell, 66, of Dunstable and summer resident of Baker's Island, Salem, MA died Friday October 5, 2012 at her home on Baker's Island after a long illness surrounded by her loving family.She was married to Douglas W. Russell Sr. with whom she would have celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary on November 13th.Born in Chelsea, MA, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Dorothy Ward. She was a graduate of Winchester High School.Janet was a longtime resident of Dunstable. She served as President of the Groton Dunstable High School Booster Club and was an avid fan of all of her children's sports.She and the family summered on Baker's Island, Salem, MA where she was actively involved with all Island committees, offices, and functions. She loved and cherished her grandchildren, enjoyed bird watching, gardening, and entertaining.She was a member of the Dunstable Evangelical Congregational Church. She was a charter founder of the Tyngsboro Dunstable Choral Society. In 2006 she fought and beat breast cancer.Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Laureen and Donald Devine of Charlestown, RI and Danielle and Steven Striebel of Amherst, NH; a son and his wife, Douglas and Catherine Russell of Upton, MA; a brother, Samuel M. Ward IV of CA; six grandchildren, Matthew, Joshua and Sydney Striebel, Douglas W. "Trip" Russell III, Holly and Samuel Russell and many nieces and nephews.RUSSELL -- Her Memorial Service will be held on November 10, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME, 106 MIDDLESEX ST., CHELMSFORD. Cremation at Merrimack Crematory.
