ObituaryJANET W. BROWNITHACA - Janet W. Brown, 78, of 384 Savage Farm Drive, Ithaca, died Saturday, April 16, 2005, at Kendal at Ithaca. Born February 7, 1927 in West Winfield, NY, she was a daughter of the late William D. and Florence Howard Brown.Following graduation from high school, Miss Brown attended the Central City Business Institute in Syracuse. Miss Brown worked for a number of years at the New York State Holstein Association office in Ithaca. She later became a business partner with Progenetics in Ithaca for 5 years. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as office manager at Ithaca Chrysler Plymouth Jeep. Miss Brown was a longtime member of First Baptist Church where she was the treasurer of the church up until she passed away, as well as a long time member of the choir. She also enjoyed traveling.Miss Brown is survived by her sister, Elizabeth A. Brown of Ithaca; as well as many cousins. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Howard D. Brown; and her stepmother, Grace M. Brown.A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 23, at the First Baptist Church, Rev. Wendy Fambro officiating. A graveside committal service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 27, in Unadilla Forks Cemetery, Town of Plainfield, NY. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church. Arrangements are by the E.C. Wagner Funeral Home of Ithaca.
