Janet Gibson Miller Guilderland Janet Gibson Miller, 92, died peacefully at her home in Guilderland on November 19, 2014. She was born on March 8, 1922 in Spring Lake, NJ, the beloved daughter of Clarence and Mae Gibson. Janet graduated from Point Pleasant High School in 1940. In 1943 she married the love of her life, Joseph Adam Miller Jr., and upon his graduation from Rutgers University they moved from Basking Ridge to Westfield, NJ to raise their family. Janet worked in the office of the Westfield Presbyterian Church and also at the medical practice of Dr. Bourns as his secretary. She worked in that capacity for a total of 40 years. Following their retirement the couple moved to Pawlet, VT and Naples, FL before returning to Guilderland. Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph and her sister, Doris Truex. She is survived by her children, her daughter, Bonnie Slovak (Peter) of Rotterdam, NY and sons, Joseph Adam Miller III of Cape Coral, FL, Michael Miller (Michele) of Clearwater, FL and David Miller (Joan) of Avon, CT; as well as her nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; a niece and a nephew. The family wishes to thank all those who cared for her during her recent illness, especially her immediate caregivers, Crystal, Missy, Alisha, Gina and Danielle. Janet was a member and a deacon of the Hamilton Union Presbyterian Church. There will be a celebration of her life held on Wednesday, December 3rd at 11 a.m. at the Hamilton Union Presbyterian Church, 2291 Western Ave., Guilderland. All are invited to attend. Entombment will be private at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Cemetery where she will be laid to rest beside her husband, Joseph. Memorial contributions may be made to the church or to Albany County Hospice, 445 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205.
