WILLIAMS _ Jane Rowlands January 17, 1931 - December 2, 2008 Jane was born one of six children on the beautiful farm of Tyn Cwm, in the greenest valley in all of Wales near Aberystwyth. Jane's mother, Elizabeth E. Davies, was widowed young and raised all six children on the farm through both the Great Depression and the Second World War. The values of thrift and hard work were sown during those early years and never left Jane. Always an avid student, Jane worked and studied tirelessly to graduate with the Gold Medal in nursing from the Cardiff Royal Infirmary. Subsequently, Jane became a certified Midwife after studying in Edinburgh, Scotland. As a nurse she excelled, becoming sister in charge of a surgical ward. While nursing in Cardiff she met the love of her life, Dr. Robert Tudor Williams, who became her partner for life. In 1957, after several happy years as a courting couple in Cardiff, Jane and Tudor married in a small family wedding in the quaint Welsh village of Capel Dewi. The couple started their grand adventure by moving to Canada in 1960 for just one year. They settled in Edmonton, Alberta and three children Owen, Sian and Huw were born. They moved their young family to Calgary, Alberta in 1966 to begin a wonderful new chapter in family life. Living in Calgary for thirty-two years, Jane enjoyed her many friends and diverse activities - badminton, bridge, music, and the Calgary Medical Ladies. Of utmost importance to Jane was caring for, and spending time with, her family. She was a great wife and mother. The absolute best! Jane was a beautiful person. She was loyal, courageous, strong-willed, forgiving, fair and compassionate. She had an amazing strength of character and was loved like crazy by her family and will be deeply missed by all she knew. Jane is survived by loving husband Tudor; son Owen and partner Betty; daughter Sian and husband Jorge and grandchildren Paloma and Olwen; son Huw and wife Barbara and grandchildren Morgan, Brittany, and Hannah. Her beloved brothers Thomas and Islwyn, and her soul-mate sister Megan survive her. A private family Service was held in Waterloo, Ontario. In accordance with Jane's wishes, donations should be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the St. Mary's Hospital Cardiac Care Unit in lieu of flowers. Donations may be arranged by contacting the ERB & GOOD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 171 King Street South, Waterloo at 1-519-745-8445 or www.erbgood.com .
