MIDDLEFIELD - Jane (Brookes) Miller, 86, of Lake Shore Drive, Middlefield, wife of the late Philip Miller, died Saturday, May 17, 2008 at her home. She was surrounded by family and her devoted caregiver, Vita. Born in Meriden, Jane was the daughter of the late Ernest and Mary Jane (Cunningham) Brookes. Prior to her retirement, she was employed with General Motors as a secretary in the New Departure Plants of Meriden and Guilford. During her years as a full time homemaker, she also found time to work as a newspaper columnist, Avon Salesperson and volunteer for the Salvation Army as well as numerous other charitable organizations. Jane is survived by her children, William Miller of Middlefield, and Bonnie Piascyk and her husband, Robert of Wallingford; she was the beloved grandmother of Stephan Miller, Robert and Katherine Piascyk; as well as great-grandchildren, Sean and Madison Miller. She was predeceased by her brother, Arthur Brooke; and sister, Helen Dunlop, both of Meriden. Jane was also fortunate to have a second family, the Wilsons' of Westbrook, the late Ernest and Lucy Wilson and their children, Robert and John Wilson played an important role in her life and were very near to her heart. A memorial service will be held Thursday, May 22, at 1 p.m. at Middlefield Federated Church, Main St., Middlefield. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in Middlefield Cemetery.
