Jane L. (Dillon) Garvey of Vestal Jane L. (Dillon) Garvey died peacefully in the presence of her beloved husband, Walter Garvey, and loving family on March 20, 2010, at Lourdes Hospital of congestive heart failure. Born on October 1, 1921, Jane Dillon was 18 when she married Walter A. Garvey 69 years ago in Binghamton, where both of their extended families had resided since coming to America from Counties Clare, Limerick, and Roscommon, in the Irish Famine years. She was the daughter of Helen F. (Hogan) and John N. Dillon. She lived most of the years since 1954 residing in Vestal, where she raised and educated five children, for whom she was the heart of the family. She worked hard all her life, but was most proud of her nursing duties at Binghamton General Hospital and of her service as a member of the Vestal Central School Board. She loved reading, flowers, beautiful colors, traveling with her husband, and visiting her children and their families. She was a communicant of St. Paul's Parish in Binghamton and then of Our Lady of Sorrows in Vestal. She is survived by her children, W. Anthony "Tony" Garvey and wife, Ann H. Millar of Waterford, VA, John F. "Jack" Garvey and wife, Nancy J. Pollard of Ashburn, VA, Diane Garvey Nesin and husband, Jeffrey D. of Memphis, TN, and New York City, Sharon E. Roney and husband, George T. of Vestal, NY, and Patricia A. "Patti" Davis and husband, Walter S. of Vestal, NY. She is survived by several nieces and nephews and also by her beloved grandchildren, Cara L. Garvey Coleman and husband, Jason of Waterford, VA, Ryan W. Garvey and wife, Danielle of Leesburg, VA, John F. "Jay" Garvey and wife, Jennifer of Marysville, PA, Brian D. Garvey and wife, Kathryn of Potomac Falls, VA, Kate D. Nesin and S. Grace Nesin, both of Brooklyn, NY, Erin L. Davis and fiancé, Richard Bennett, both of London, UK, and Russell G. Davis of Brooklyn, NY. And to her great pride and joy, she is survived by these great-grandchildren: Grace Garvey, Gibraltar, Justice and Kezziah Coleman, Alta Garvey, and two soon to arrive to Brian and Kathryn Garvey and to Ryan and Danielle Garvey. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday 9:30 a.m. from the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott, followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Sorrows Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home Tuesday evening from 5-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in her memory may be, made to any area Food Bank.
