Jane Elizabeth Newland Johnson, 80, of 205 Bud Nalley Drive, died Sunday, Jan. 5, 2003. Born in Crittenden, Ky., a daughter of the late Ernest W. and Mary Smith Newland, Mrs. Johnson was a retired Registered Nurse and was a member of Easley Presbyterian Church. She was a volunteer at the Rosa Clark Clinic in Seneca, and was also a volunteer at Clemson Botanical Gardens. Mrs. Johnson received the Phil Harris Award from Westminster Rotary Club, and was formerly a Den Mother for Cub Scouts. Surviving are her husband, Frank Johnson, of the home; a son, Frank Lewis Johnson Jr., and his wife, Linda, of Bozeman, Mont.; a sister, Margaret Nish, of Gainesville, Ga.; and two grandchildren, Trevor Allen Johnson of Seattle, Wash., and Anna Williams of Bozeman, Mont. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Johnson was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph Ballard Newland and Charles Newland. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at Foothills Presbyterian Home: 205 Bud Nalley Drive, Easley; with the Rev. Julie Schaaf and the Rev. Linda Sharp officiating. Friends will be received immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorials be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621. - Robinson Funeral Home.
