SMITH Jane Horvath Smith, age 91, of Bridgeport, beloved wife of the late Edward Smith, died Thursday, January 12, 2006, at the Carolton Convalescent Hospital, Fairfield. Mrs. Smith was born in Bridgeport and was a lifelong resident. She was a retired R.N. for the Bridgeport Hospital, private duty registry for 32 years. After her retirement she helped in raising her loving grandchildren. She was a graduate of the former Congress Street High School, Class of 1932 and the Middlesex Hospital School of Nursing, New Brunswick, N.J. Mrs. Smith was a member of the S.S. Norden Club Ladies Auxillary. Survivors include one son, Sebastian S. Smith and his wife, Gail, of Sherman; one daughter, Judith Smith Gordon of Bridgeport; two sisters, Elizabeth Stansfield and Julia Kronovetter, both of Fairfield; four grandchildren, Kathleen Dul, Daniel Smith, Christine Magliocco and her husband, Renato and Tracey Iancale; five great-grandchildren, Erin Mae, Joseph and James Dul and Jayne and Julia Magliocco; a nephew, William Stansfield and his wife, Jane. She was predeceased by a sister, Ann Ostrofsky. Mrs. Smith will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother and very special person by all whom she touched in her life. Friends are invited to celebrate Janets life on Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. in the Larson Funeral Home, 2496 North Avenue, Bridgeport. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
