LODI - James Webb Wilson, 72, of Vernon, CT, beloved husband of Nancy (Thibodeau) Wilson of 44 years, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013.Relatives and friends joined the family on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect St., Rockville, CT 06066. A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013, at Union Congregational Church, 3 Elm St., Rockville. Burial followed at St. Bernard Cemetery, Vernon, with a reception afterwards at Union Congregational Church.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Kidney Fund at www.kidneyfund.org.He was born Aug. 1, 1941, in Ithaca, N.Y., son of the late David and Marian (Auten) Wilson. Jim graduated from Ovid Central School as the class valedictorian in 1959. He then graduated from the State University College at Buffalo in 1963. He was a member of Union Congregational Church in Rockville. James was a veteran of the U.S. Army and serviced as Military Police in Germany, a member of the American Legion, and a recipient of the Connecticut Veterans Wartime Service medal. Following a 27-year career as a systems analyst with the Travelers Insurance Cos., James took an interest in local politics, running as a petitioning candidate in the 2007 Vernon mayoral race. A published poet and writer, James was one of 10 finalists for selection to the post of Connecticut Poet Laureate.Besides his wife, Nancy, he is survived by his children, Jeffrey Wilson of Vernon and Jennifer Alaimo of East Hartford. He also leaves his brothers and sisters, Marjorie Clark, Nancy Covert, Carol Wilson, Eugene Wilson, David Wilson, and Richard Wilson; as well as his three grandchildren, Jenna Karvelis, Zoey Alaimo, and Kara Alaimo.
