MANCHESTER -- James W. Cavanaugh, 84, of Manchester, died Sept. 5, 2008, in the Hillsborough County Nursing Home, Goffstown. He was born Feb. 24, 1924, in Manchester, the son of the late Leo and Ina (Merrill) Cavanaugh. He graduated from Central High School in Manchester, Babson College and Hesser College. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Air Force. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross with four oak leaf clusters and the Air Medal for service to his country. He was owner and operator of Ring & Cavanaugh, where he sold recreational vehicles. He was vice president of Leo A. Cavanaugh and Son and past president of the N.H. Auto Dealers Association. IN HIS LIFE: He is survived by his first wife and mother of his children, Jeanne R. Cavanaugh; son Paul J. Cavanaugh Sr. and his wife, Linda Raymond Cavanaugh, of Goffstown; daughter, Linda J. (Cavanaugh) LeBlond and her husband, Raymond LeBlond, of Claremont; three grandchildren, Shannon M. Cavanaugh, Paul J. Cavanaugh Jr., and Alexandre J. LeBlond; sister, Marilyn Warren, and her husband, Thomas Warren, of Auburn; several nieces and nephews, as well as his extended family, Eyan Arel and his wife, Shawn, and their daughter, Abbey. He was predeceased by his son, Bruce J. Cavanaugh, in 1958. SERVICES: Calling hours are Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Phaneuf Funeral Home, 243 Hanover St., Manchester.
