Morrison Jr., Gainesville; brothers, Dr. Bill Morrison, Gainesville, and David Morrison, Asheville, N.C.; sister, Vicki Morrison, Brimson, Minn.; special sister-in-law, K. Irene England, Gainesville; and brother-in-law and wife, Winfred L. and Sharon England, Tate. Jim was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Lumsden Morrison and his Mama and Dad England. Jim was a graduate of Gainesville High School and the University of Georgia. Jim began his professional career as a math teacher and voc-tech coordinator. He owned and operated Morrison and Associates Real Estate Appraisers for the past 31 years. Jim was a member of the Gainesville First United Methodist Church. He was an active member of many civic, social and professional organizations, including the International Organization of Real Estate Appraisers and the NRA Golden Eagles. Jim was a water sports enthusiast: skiing, cave diving and diving for missing persons in his early years. Jim loved hunting and fishing and winning numerous events for his participation in bass fishing. Most important in Jim's life was his true love for his wife, his son Thor and his three grandchildren who call him Daddy-Daddy. Jim loved nature and animals and was the proud owner of three German shepherds, having just lost his last puppy of 13 years, Katie, several weeks before his own death. Jim always remained a teenager at heart. He loved working with young people, both as a Little League coach and mentor. He devoted much attention to his grandchildren's activities. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2008, in the chapel of Mason & Ward Funeral Home. The Rev. Jeff Wright will officiate with eulogies being said by Mickey Hyder, Mary Shore and his son, Thor Morrison. Gladys Green will provide the music for the service.
