HORN _ James Thomas Franz, LCol, CD, Q.C. Jim Horn will be sorely missed. Predeceased by sister Ina and brother John and survived by sister Olga, he passed away suddenly at his home overlooking the lake in Kelowna on Tuesday, October 17, 2006. As we write this, there is evidence everywhere of his activities the day before. His desk shows that he had been writing letters in support of his various volunteer activities. His work boots show that he had been out mowing the field. His tools and work gloves show that he had been fixing (and likely "blessing") the boat winch. It is comforting to know he was doing things he enjoyed. Born and raised in Kelowna, he became a proud member of the BC Dragoons before going on to study law at UBC. He returned to Kelowna where he worked tirelessly to establish a highly principled and successful law practice. Over the years, he also served as the Chancellor of the Anglican Dioceses of Kootenay, member of the Kelowna Chamber of Commerce and the City Solicitor for many years. During this time, he was also very active in the Law Society of British Columbia and continued his service with the BC Dragoons. He was a devoted husband, inspirational father and revered Grandad who always put the needs of his family first. He will be forever remembered by his wife Jean, his son Blair (Carol), his son Graham (Tracy), his Daughter Tanya and his grandchildren Sam, Charlie, Harry, Jack, Wildy, Caroline, Jake, Jacqueline and George. Fortunately his grandchildren all had an opportunity to get to know this tremendous man. A service was held at St. Andrews Anglican Church, 4619 Lakeshore Rd., at 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 21, 2006.
