James Terry "Jim" Smith, 66, died June 29, 2011, at Sebastian River Medical Center. He was born in Barney, Ala., and lived in Vero Beach for 50 years, coming from Hollywood. He was married for 38 years to Crickett Smith who died earlier the same day. Survivors include his stepdaughter, Debbie Clifford of Sebastian; sisters, Iris Maddox and Beverly Laird, both of Quinton, Ala., Melissa Morford of Wilton Manors, Starla Moore of Bessemer, Ala., Frances Kennedy of Jacksonville Beach and Glenda Patterson of Vero Beach; and one grandchild. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Jerry, Frankie and Ernie Smith. Memorial donations may be sent to the Humane Society of Vero Beach, 6230 77th St., Vero Beach, FL 32967.
