-> Sylvania - Dr. James Russell Morris, age 82, died Saturday, April 9, 2005 at Candler Hospital in Savannah. The Lakeland, Florida, native attended the University of Florida and received a PhD in Economics from the University of Chicago. He worked for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington, D.C. and retired after many years of service. He was also a Professor at the University of Chicago for many years. After retirement, Dr. Morris moved to Sylvania in 1985 where he served on the Screven County Library Board for several years, and became a member of Liberty Presbyterian Church. Dr. Morris loved the outdoors and liked all types of animals. He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Fanes Morris, in 1996. Dr. Morris is survived by a sister, Mary M. Hershey of Sylvania; a sister-in-law, Polly Morris of Jacksonville, FL and a number of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Thompson-Strickland-Waters F uneral Home in Sylvania. A memorial service will be Saturday, April 16th at 11:00 a.m. at Liberty Presbyterian Church. The Reverend Jim Hope will officiate. Interment will be private and will be held at a later date.
