JOHNSON James Robert (Bob) Johnson, CDR, USN-Retired, died suddenly in a local hospital Wednesday, November 14. Bob was born September 16, 1929 in St. Louis, MO. He graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Science in Zoology in 1951. He received his Masters in Business Administration from the University of Michigan in 1953. Bob then successfully completed Officer Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island and was commissioned an ensign in the United States Navy Supply Corps in 1954. He married Ann Marie Stromer in 1954 in Anns hometown of Frankenmuth, Michigan. He enjoyed 26 years of exemplary service, receiving the Navy Commendation Medal and the National Defense Service Medal with one Bronze Star. Bob retired from the US Navy as a Commander in 1978. He then began his second career as a financial advisor for USPA/IRA. He retired from this second, very successful career in 1988. Bob then began his final career - golf and travel. He will be sorely missed by Ann, his wife of 46 years and his four children: James William Johnson of Virginia Beach, Virginia; Roberta Ann Clark of Norfolk, Virginia; Virginia Johnson Snellgrove of Baldwin, Florida and John Nicholas Johnson of Conway, South Carolina. He leaves a legacy of seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Dr. Joseph W. Johnson of Troy, Michigan and Jerry B. Johnson of Wellington, Florida. Friends and family are invited to a viewing at Hardage-Giddens Rivermead Funeral Home, 127 Blanding Blvd, Orange Park, FL this Saturday, November 17 from 2pm-4pm with a service immediately following at 4:00 PM.
