FAYETTE James Raley Morrison, age 64, of Fayette, died Aug. 23, 2008, at Fayette Medical Center. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Nelson Funeral Home Chapel with Don McWhorter, Kevin Beard, Dr. Jon Sanford, and John Douglas Price officiating. Burial will follow in Cleveland Church of Christ Cemetery with Nelson Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.He was preceded in death by his father, Fletcher Morrison.Survivors include his wife, Annette Morrison of Fayette; his daughters, Alicia (Landon) Aldridge of Bankston and Kristy (Chuck) Baddley of Medina, Ohio; his sister, Martha (Stan) Heinfeld of Northport; his brothers, Frank Morrison of Vernon and Henry (Susan) Morrison of Belk; his mother, Lucy Morrison of Fayette; and his grandchildren, Caleb and Samantha Aldridge, and Brandon, Jamond, Harper, Hudson, and Grace Baddley.He was born on September 2, 1943, to Fletcher and Lucy Morrison. He graduated from Fayette County High School. He married Annette Harbin on July 22, 1960. He attended University of Alabama and graduated with a BS degree in accounting. After working for several years in accounting firms, James opened his own practice in Fayette in 1970. He continued to serve people for 38 years in his practice.He has two daughters named Alicia and Kristy, two sons-in-law, and seven grandchildren who he loved dearly. James enjoyed 34 years of working with friends and family in the Racking Horse Breeder's Association of America. In Fayette, James was at one time president of the local PTA, president of the Band Boosters Club, president of the Quarterback Club, and a member of the Lion's Club. He also broadcast Fayette Tiger Football on the radio for over 20 years. James was a member of the Fayette Church of Christ where he served as a deacon for many years, and was asked to be an elder in December of 1994. He served in that capacity until his death. His legacy will be his love for and work with the young people in his community and his church.Pallbearers will be Jake Garrison, Jerry Olive, Randy Burns, Jon Sanford, Tom Hubbert, John Price, Randy Reeves, and Jack Perry.Honorary pallbearers are all friends and loved ones of the family.
