James R. Cavanaugh of Dimock, Pa. James R. Cavanaugh, 79, of Dimock, Pa., passed away at Allied Services Skilled Nursing Center, in Scranton, Pa., on Thursday, October 18, 2007. He was born in Carbondale, Pa., to the late John and Martha Washington (Carpenter) Cavanaugh. He is survived by his wife, Coralie Joy (Dorchester) Cavanaugh, Dimock, Pa.; his daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Lester O'Dell, Conklin, N.Y.; grandson, Aaron O'Dell; son, Robert Cavanaugh, Binghamton, N.Y.; stepdaughter and son-in-law, Jean and Alan Rouse, Vestal, N.Y.; step granddaughter and her husband, Amie Dee and Sean Pitman; brother and sisters-in-law, Francis and Jean Cavanaugh, Montrose, Pa., John and Marilyn Cavanaugh, Lake Side, Pa., Betty Cavanaugh, Susquehanna, Pa., William Cavanaugh, Indianapolis, Ind. Jim was predeceased by his brother, George Cavanaugh; and sister and brother-in-law, Florence and Mark Hall; along with several nieces and nephews. James was a well-known Water Well Driller. He was a very respected businessman in Montrose and Dimock, and a pillar in his community. He was a member of the Lions Club and a 50 year member of the Warren Lodge F & AM Lodge of Masons, Montrose, Pa. He enjoyed learning something everyday. He was self taught in many fields. Jim was the Sponsor of the Jim Con Softball team from South Montrose. He enjoyed watching nature and spending time with his grandson, Aaron. A Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, October 22, 2007, at the Daniel K. Regan Funeral Home, Montrose, Pa., with Pastor Richard Spering of the Fairdale United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in the Dimock Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home. Donations in memory of Jim can be made to either the Endless Mountain Medical Care Foundation "Building Fund", 78 Grow Ave., Montrose, Pa. 18801; or to the Susquehanna County Free Library Association, 2 Monument Square Montrose, Pa. 18801.
