James Norris McKenzie Fort Valley, GA- James Norris McKenzie Norris passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2014, after a long illness. Visitation will be on Sunday, December 7th from 4:00-5:30 in the Fort Valley United Methodist Church Sanctuary. His funeral will be held at the Fort Valley United Methodist Church on Monday, December 8, 2014, at 4 PM with a time of fellowship with the family for dessert for all friends and family one hour before the service (3-4 PM on Monday). Private interment. Norris was born to the late William Alexander and Bennie Lee Hall McKenzie on January 15, 1924 in Marshallville, GA. Norris graduated from Marshallville High School and attended Aviation School in Macon before joining the Army Air Force. He served during World War II in the European Theater under Gen. Patton. In 1952 he married Jean Lancaster at Indian Springs Holiness Camp Ground and thus began his great love for Camp Meetings. He is retired from National Life and Accident Insurance Co. and Blue Bird Body Co. He worked in security at Blue Bird and as tour guide at Wanderlodge. The people that took his tours got to see the Wonderlodges and pictures of his grandchildren. Norris loved God, Family, Church, Missions and Camp meetings. He was a member of Fort Valley United Methodist Church and the Fellowship Sunday School Class. He served on the boards of Indian Springs Holiness Camp Ground for 33 years of active service then emeritus until death. He served for a time on the Southeastern Holiness Camp Meeting and Taylor County Holiness Camp Meeting. He is survived by his wife, Jean, two children Mary Jean (Ken) Banter and Norrie (Lynn) McKenzie; grandchildren John (Sarah, McKenzie) Banter, Jeannie and James Banter, Julie, Matt and Courtney McKenzie. Also, he has two brothers- in-love Bill (Retha) Lancaster and Bob (Sue) Lancaster and many loving nieces and nephews. If anyone wishes to make a donation; a few flowers will be appreciated, but mainly gifts to Indian Springs Holiness Camp Ground for painting for the Cafeteria (Indian Springs Treasurer: Kevin Thompson, PO Box 1742, Mableton, GA 30126) or to the Fort Valley United Methodist Church to the Missions Dept. (301 West Church Street, Fort Valley, GA 31030). Arrangements are by Tomlinson Funeral Home of Swainsboro
