James Monroe "Jim" Williams, 68, of Panama City, Fla., passed away Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2009. He was born Aug. 22, 1940. He grew up in Panama City and graduated from Bay High School in 1958. He also was trained in law enforcement and was a highway patrolman and served throughout Florida during his career. For many years, he owned and operated a restaurant in Eufaula, Ala. He also worked with Tom Mann, the inventor and manufacturer of the "jelly worm" fish bait. They were fishing buddies. He was a guide on Lake Eufaula and participated in bass tournaments. He was an avid fisherman and loved the great outdoors. He was preceded in death by his parents, J.M. "June" Williams and Delma Conrad Williams. He is survived by one sister, Mary June Wave and husband, the Rev. John E. Wave; two nephews, Steven Wave and Wesley Wave; one niece, Susan Hartsook; and four cousins, Lavonne Walker, Gene Conrad, Freddie Conrad and Harold Conrad. He was a wonderful brother, brother-in-law and uncle. He had many friends and always was helpful to others. He will be greatly missed. A celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009, at St. Andrews Episcopal Church with the Rev. Dr. Roy E. McLuen and the Rev. John Wave officiating.
