James Michael "Mike" Starr, 62, Seymour, passed away at 4:55 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2010, at his residence.Mr. Starr was a member of Honeytown Christian Church. He was a small-business owner and an entrepreneur. He was owner and operator of Starr Electronics, retiring in 2003. He was always thinking of new ventures, as he was very creative and talented. He enjoyed farming, building and life in general. He also enjoyed inventing, racing and growing watermelons. However, his greatest joy was his friends, family and grandchildren.Born June 29, 1948, in Seymour, he was the son of Clarence Trett, who preceded him in death, and Hilda Boknecht Hurley, who survives in Cortland. He was later adopted by Woodrow Starr, who preceded him in death. On Aug. 27, 1966, at Seymour Calvary Baptist Church, he married Donna Trapp, who survives.Besides his wife of 44 years and his mother, he is survived by his children, Peggy (Jeff) Starr-Brewer, Penny (Michael) Jones and Crystal (Chris) Bryant; grandchildren, Andy and Jessie Brewer, James, Jennifer, Julieann and Justin Jones and Samantha, Logan and Alexander Bryant; and a brother, Steve (Linda) Starr.Brother Dennis Williams will conduct funeral services at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Voss Chapel, Seymour. Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery, Seymour.Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday and from 9:30 a.m. until time of service Monday at the funeral home.Memorials may be given to Honeytown Christian Church or to pancreatic cancer research.www.vossfuneralservice.com
