James Lee Bishop - SAVANNAH - James Lee Bishop, 77, of Savannah, passed on to be with his loving wife on February 16, 2012 at his home. James was born on September 23, 1934 in Perry, Florida, to the late Noah Y. and Alva Lee Bishop. He served as a cook in the United States Army, and retired in his early fifties after over 30 years working as a conductor for Norfolk Southern Railroad. After his retirement, he enjoyed fishing on Lake Gale. James was a member of Cresthill Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon, taught Sunday School, and volunteered his time visiting the sick and elderly. He was preceded in death by his parents, loving wife Dorma Lynch Bishop, daughter Debra Ann Wessel, brothers Noal Bishop and John Bishop. He is survived by his daughters Susan B. Pyburn and Lisa L. Bishop, both of Savannah, brothers Charles Bishop of Steinhatchee, Fl, David Bishop of Intelachen, Fl, Carl Bishop of Steinhatchee, Fl, and Billy Bishop of Quincy, Fl, sisters Wilda B. Hanson of California and Grace B. Holloway of Conroe, Tx, seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Graveside Services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.. Remembrances may be made to Hospice Savannah. The family would like to extend their deep gratitude to Miss Emma and the staff of Hospice Savannah, and grandchildren Desiree Pyburn, Christopher James Pyburn, and Daniel James Bishop for all of the love and care that was given to James.
