Age 81, of North Tonawanda, Wednesday, January 23, 2002, devoted husband of the late Margaret M. (nee Glenn) Carpenter, who died March 28, 2000; father of Susan (Allan) Lester, Karen (William) Graham, and Linda (Robert) Minick; grandfather of Mary Beth (John) Lester and Jesse Lee (Flavia) Hazelet; great-grandfather of Megan, Ryan and Zachary Lester; brother of William Carpenter, Ruth Maynard and the late Clair, Clarence and George Carpenter. He was a WWII Army veteran serving in Europe with Co. F, 473rd infantry regiment. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, the B. Leo Dolan Post #410 American Legion and was an exempt member of the Wendelville Vol. Fire Co. He was a former mail carrier for the U.S. Postal service and a former employee for National Grinding Wheel. Friends may call at the FRETTHOLD FUNERAL HOME INC., 1241 Oliver St., at Ward Rd, in North Tonawanda on Thursday from 7-9 PM and Friday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 10 AM. Entombment in Elmlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Niagara Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
