James J. Morrison, age 80, of Livingston, N.J., passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010, at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston. Born on Staten Island, N.Y., Mr. Morrison was a resident of Livingston for the past 44 years. He attended Wagner College on Staten Island, N.Y., and joined the Continental Insurance Companies of New York in 1950. He held various management positions in New York City and Newark, N.J., in the human resources department until 1979, when he was appointed vice president in charge of human resources. Mr. Morrison held that position until his retirement in 1992. He was a member of the New Jersey Personnel Management Association, the New York Human Resources Management Association, the New York Compensation Management Group and the Society for Advancement of Management. Mr. Morrison is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Marie (nee Mancinelli); his son, James Morrison; his daughter, Kerin Morrison, and his daughter, Kelly Manarino, and her husband, Matt. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Thursday, Dec. 30, from 4 to 9 p.m. at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home of Livingston, 145 E. Mt. Pleasant Ave., Livingston. The family will gather at the funeral home on Friday at 9 a.m., with the Funeral Mass to follow at 10 a.m. at St. Philomena R.C. Church in Livingston. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover.
