HORTON, James Dennis "Denny," age 51, passed away on Friday, April 9, 2004. Mr. Horton was a lifelong resident of the Plant City and Lakeland area and was of the Baptist faith. Dennis was an associate of Publix Super- markets for 33 years, most recently holding the position of District Manager. Known for his compassion for people, he was loved and respected by all. A loving husband, father, son and friend. Dennis was a very selfless, loving man always putting other people's needs first. Dennis was actively involved with his community, supporting the March of Dimes, the Children's Miracle Networks, Special Olympics, and most noted for his organization of the Publix' Central Region Annual Golf Tournament to benefit the United Way of Central Florida. He was was truly one of a kind and will be truly missed. Survivors include his wife Patty Horton of Lakeland; two sons, Shea Michael Horton of Lakeland and Ryan Patrick Horton of Plant City; one daughter, Summer Leigh Horton of Plant City; mother a nd father: Lena and Hilton Horton of Plant City; one brother, Gregory Allen Horton of Plant City. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 13, 2004, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Wells Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, 2:00 p.m. at Bethany Baptist Church, with Reverend Hugh Long officiating. Interment wili be at Hopewell Memorial Gardens.
