James Henry "Jim" Carter, 85, of Panama City, Fla., passed away Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009, at a local hospital. Jim served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and as a pilot for the Florida Game and Fresh Water Fish Commission for 34 years. He was a member and elder of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church and attended Covenant Presbyterian Church. He also was a member of St. Andrews Masonic Lodge 212. Jim is survived by a son, David Carter (Tanya) of Orlando, Fla.; two daughters, Cornelia Higdon (Lloyd) of Kingwood, Texas, and Dorothy Bennett (Rod) of Atlanta; sister, Betty Jean Cummins of Williston, Fla.; nine grandchildren, Christopher Carter, Danielle Carter, Sean Carter, Dustin Kincade, Jason Kincade, Stephen Higdon, Kirk Higdon, Jack Bennett and Martha Clare Bennett; and one great-grandson, Jiovanni Carter. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Joan Ann Carter. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009, at Covenant Presbyterian Church.
