POWELL James Harold Powell, 84, passed away March 20th, 2004. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps and later in the U.S.M.C. Reserves as a pilot having attained the rank of Major. He retired from Moore Dry Kiln / Irvington Moore after more than 40 years of service. His wife of 53 years, Judy preceded him in death in May, 2000. He is survived by 4 daughters, U.S.M.C. Lt. Col. Laulie Powell (Mark) of Kaneohe, HI., Jamie Powell Chiles (Harold), April Anne Powell and Sarah Powell Singer (Ken) all of Jacksonville, FL; 4 grandchildren, Laura Chiles Ammons (Wiley), Craig A. Chiles, Susan C. Singer and James H. Singer; brother, B.O. Powell of Chesapeake, V A.; sister, Miriam P. Boring of Jacksonville, FL., and numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Friday March 26th at Oaklawn Cemetery with Reverend David Holladay to officiate. Following the service the family will receive visitors at All Saints Episcopal Church Parish Hall, 4171 Hendricks Ave. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials to: The American Heart Association 5851 St. Augustine Rd.
