<!-- FH = Appalachain Funeral Services -->Dr. James Harold AndersonSylva - Dr.James Harold Anderson, 87, passed away Thursday August 30, 2012. A native of Mars Hill, North Carolina, he was the son of William Kenneth and Johnnie James Anderson. Dr. Anderson graduated from Mars Hill Junior College. He received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Wake Forest University and a Master's Degree from Longwood College. He earned a Master of Divinity degree from Duke University as well as a Doctor of Education degree from the University of Tennessee. He held school principal ships in both Virginia and North Carolina and Pastorates in North Carolina, Texas and Virginia. He taught at Western Carolina University from 1963-1987. He held many interim pastorates in Western North Carolina and was a valued speaker at many churches and school groups. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, John M. Anderson and Dr.William Anderson.He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Wynona Ferrell AndersonHis daughter- Joyce Whitlock and her husband James of Farmville, VA.2 Grandchildren- Ann Leigh Whitlock of Richmond, VA and William F. Whitlock of Carolina Beach, NC2 Great Grandchildren- Josh and Cory Whitlock both of Carolina Beach, NCHis sister- Doris Anderson Pryor of Houston, TXFuneral Services will be 3:00PM Sunday September 2, 2012 at Sylva First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jeffrey Mathis and Dr. John Bunn officiating. The family will receive friends from 2-3:00PM prior to the service at the Church. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
