JohnsonCandler - James Edwin Earl Johnson, 72, of Candler, died Sunday, October 12, 2014.A native of Lynn, MA, he was a son of the late Carl E. Johnson and Adele Blackador Johnson Dunn. He graduated from Enka High School and served with the Army medics in Vietnam and was a life member of VFW Post 9939, Candler. He retired from American Enka/Colbond and he was a member of New Morgan Hill Baptist Church. He was an avid baseball fan and served as an umpire for high school ball games, earning a Distinguished Service Award from the WNCOA Baseball Umpires Assn.Surviving are his son, Chris Johnson; aunt and uncle, Ruth and Seymour Blackador of Winipeg, Canada; several cousins in Canada, and special friends, Phyllis Vance and Earl Riddle.Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with Pastor Esta Jarrett officiating.
