Colford, James P.James P. Colford of Stamford, CT passed away on August 3, 2014 with his loving family by his side. He was 83 years old. Jim was born December 20, 1930 in Hoboken, NJ to William E. and Jane Colford. He was a graduate of St. Peter's University. Jim was an executive with IBM for thirty-five years. He was Director of Accounting Practices. He also co-authored an accounting standards book, Controllership. Jim is survived by his wife, Joan Carubia Colford, his daughters, Cathy Mayo, Eileen Mishley (Richard), and Carolyn Guarino, his son Jim Colford Jr. (Christine), and his son-in-law, Ralph Mayo. He was the proud and loving Grandfather of eleven grandchildren: Sean, Keri, Kelly, and Ryan Mayo; Jeffrey, Scott, and Kyle Mishley; Andrew and Kendal Colford; Nicole and Anthony Guarino; and Great Grandfather to Olivia Mayo.Jim is also survived by his sister, Jean Madden (the late Francis) and brother, William Colford (Diane). He was predeceased by his parents, his sister, Mary and brother-in-law William Erbeck. He is survived by many cherished nieces and nephews.Throughout his years, Jim enjoyed many family vacations at the Jersey Shore as well as the travel experiences he shared with Joan.Jim was actively involved in his church as well giving generously of his time to other groups, organizations, and charities.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, August 7, 2014 at 11:00 AM at St. Gabriel's Church, 914 Newfield Avenue, Stamford, CT. Burial will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery. His family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 from 4-8 PM at the Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 2900 Summer Street, Stamford, CT.
