CARTER, James, a resident of Montgomery, AL expired on March 22, 2009. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 28, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. from Northpointe Church of Christ with Bro. Herman E. Wesley III and Bro. W. E. Jack Beeman Sr., officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery will Massey Memorial Funeral Home Directing. James Carter was born July 4, 1934 in Montgomery, AL to the late Willie and Mamie Carter. He confessed hope and a belief in Christ and was baptized at Sunny Acres Church of Christ. He was united in marriage to Nettie Ruth Shackleford who preceded him in death. To that union, six children were born. On September 29, 2007, he was united in marriage to Rosa Smith and to that union, four more children were added. He leaves to cherish his memories a devoted wife; Rosa Smith Carter; four sons, William Smith of Phoenix, AR, Darryl (Loretta) Carter of Powder Springs, GA, Edwin and Barry Carter of Detroit, MI; six daughters, Kathy Hill, Vanessa Duncan, and Diana Smith, all of Anderson, IN, Beryle Carter, Valerie Carter, and Kendra (Hamson) Wallace, all of Montgomery, AL; one brother, Edward (Frankie) Carter of Detroit, MI; two sisters, Nettie (Joseph) Chappell and Mazie (Joseph) Armstrong, all of Montgomery, AL; two aunts, Leola Buchanan of Detroit, MI and Estell Franklin of Montgomery, AL; one uncle, Fred Carter Sr. of Wetumpka, AL; twenty-six grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and very devoted friends.
