Feb. 17, 1958 - Apr. 9, 2013James R. "Jay" Carpenter, Jr.James R. "Jay" Carpenter, Jr., 55, of Huntsville, passed away on Tuesday. Mr. Carpenter was employed as a Mechanical Engineer at Marshall Space Flight Center, a member of Epworth United Methodist Church and a graduate of Mississippi State University. He was preceded in death by his sister, Kelly Carpenter. Mr. Carpenter is survived by his wife, Leigh Caudill Carpenter; three children, Katie Cummings and husband Caymran, Daisy Harbin and husband Josh, and Christopher Carpenter; parents, Dr. James and Henryse Carpenter; sister, Chris Carpenter; and grandchild, Jamie Harbin. Visitation will be Friday, April 12th, from 2:30-4:00 p.m. at Epworth United Methodist Church followed by a 4:00 p.m. service with Rev. Jim Stringfellow officiating. Burial will be Saturday at Starkville Memorial Gardens in Starkville, MS. Berryhill Funeral Home is assisting the family. Memorials may be made to Alabama Forever Wild.
