James Ella Carpenter, age 82, of 109-B Hudson St., died Saturday, Dec. 24, 2005, in the Greenville Memorial Hospital. A daughter of the late James Cook and Bessie Watts Cook, she was a former member of the St. John Baptist Church, Cross Hill, and was a retired housekeeper with the Comfort Inn. She is survived by her husband, William Carpenter of the home; two sisters, Minnie Porter of Greenville and Nellie Sanders of Philadelphia, Pa.; 10 children; 25 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be held Saturday at noon at the C.D. Beasley Memorial Chapel, Laurens, with the Rev. Odell Cook officiating. Burial will be in the Franklin Cemetery, Cross Hill. The family is at 438 Perry Ave., Greenville. Beasley Funeral Home, Laurens.
